Artist Q&A with OA

1. When did you start as an artist? Where did you start out?

I have been painting since my childhood but I started my professional journey as a full-time artist in 2020. It was July of 2020, when I started Aprajita.Art in my basement studio in Bridgewater, NJ, and since that day I didn’t look back. This journey has been so fulfilling and enriching so far.

I have participated in over 40 different Art shows, Art Exhibitions, Art Fairs, Magazine features, online interviews and many more in last four years, across the United States and internationally.

2. What inspired you the most to begin your journey as an artist?

My journey as an artist began with a deep connection to nature's beauty—the play of light, the flow of water, and the vibrant energy around us. While working in the corporate world, I longed for a more personal fulfillment, and art became my sanctuary. Transitioning to a full-time art career allowed me to embrace my creative calling and share it with others. The joy I found in creating art that uplifts and resonates with people became my driving force, shaping my philosophy of "Art That Brings Happiness.

3. Who are some artists you work with or inspire you ?

As a self-taught artist, I've been inspired by masters like Claude Monet, who beautifully captures light and color in nature, and Raja Ravi Varma, who blends traditional Indian themes with European techniques. Amrita Sher-Gil’s bold colors and cultural depth, J.M.W. Turner’s dramatic nature scenes, and John Constable’s serene countryside realism have all deepened my appreciation for the diverse ways nature is portrayed in art. These artists inspire me to explore and express the beauty of the natural world in my work.

4. Would you say you have a specific style or theme, if so how would you describe that?

Yes, my work has a distinct style centered on nature. I focus on landscapes, waterscapes, and abstract compositions, aiming to capture the serene beauty of natural environments through the play of light and color. The theme of my work, "Art That Brings Happiness," encourages viewers to find peace and joy in nature's beauty. I use various mediums, including watercolors, oils, acrylics, textures, and inks, to explore different techniques and enhance the emotional impact of my art. My style reflects a deep appreciation for nature and seeks to inspire others to connect with and celebrate it.
