What dreams are made of standing on top of the world and taking in the awe-inspiring panoramic

In the bustling streets of 1980s New York City, a young Raquel—armed with a black book and inspired by the music and culture of the era—embarked on her artistic journey. What began as a passion for graffiti at the age of 15 transformed into a dynamic exploration of creativity across multiple mediums. Today, Raquel InkDuP, a name synonymous with raw talent and fearless self-expression, stands as an independent artist whose work spans makeup, sculpture, oil and acrylic painting, bleach plaster, resin, and even light welding.

From Cosmetology to Creativity Without Limits

Raquel’s artistic foundation lies in her early days as a graffiti artist. The streets taught her the importance of blending influences and creating bold, impactful visuals. Her transition to cosmetology, marked by her graduation from the New York Beauty School Academy, introduced her to the art of blending colors and textures on human canvases. Yet, Raquel’s hunger for boundless expression led her to traditional canvases and beyond.

“My artistry started as a cosmetologist. From hair and makeup, my color blends have infused into me on anything I do,” she shares. “I consider myself an artist that is very unique, odd, not typical, and a little controversial.”

Her work now spans acrylic and oil paints, plaster and sculpture, light welding, and resin. Whether it’s furniture, blazers, jackets, coats, leather handbags, clutches, or jewelry, each creation is unique, one-of-a-kind, and a reflection of her unbounded creativity.

A Mind Splashed with Dali

Raquel’s artistry is a testament to her eclectic inspirations. Influenced by Salvador Dali’s surrealism, Frida Kahlo’s emotive storytelling, and Jackson Pollock’s action painting, she seamlessly merges these elements into her own unique style. Her work is characterized by dynamic techniques such as action painting and dry brushing, which breathe life into her pieces. Her creations often deconstruct and reimagine traditional forms, making each piece distinct and thought-provoking.

“My mind has a splash of Dali,”

she says, encapsulating her creative spirit.

The Artist’s Journey

Raquel’s work is deeply personal, a reflection of her truth. She describes herself as “a walking canvas with a pulse,” and her weapon is truth, known to leave scars. Her debut exhibition, held on November 8, 2024, at Cannavita, showcased her versatility and garnered significant attention. Currently, she’s preparing for her January 31, 2025, exhibit, which will feature a collection of neon, glow-in-the-dark pieces that promise to push the boundaries of her artistry even further.

Her journey also celebrates collaboration and community. “Thank you to all the other artists who support me and inspire me. Artists that support each other as we create and share our artistry make the world a better place to live in with peace and love,” she says.
